Dr. Amy Jones

Faculty

Dr. Amy Head Jones was raised in Shelbyville, Kentucky in a family of sports enthusiasts. She played golf on an athletic scholarship at the University of New Orleans, where she received her B.A. in Film, Theater, and Communication Arts in 2004. In 2006, she completed her M.S. in Sport Administration from The University of Louisville and became a certified LPGA teaching professional that same year. Her research interests in sport communication led her to the Doctoral program at The University of Alabama, where she completed her Ph.D. in Communication Studies in 2011.

Now in her fifteenth year at UWA, Dr. Jones currently serves as an Associate Professor of Digital Communications and the Director of the Integrated Marketing Communications program. She specializes in teaching television production, graphic design, sports media, and event planning. She and her husband Michael Jones have two children, Rock (10) and Hudson (7).

Caleb Walters

Faculty

Caleb Walters, is an instructor of digital communications in the IMC program at UWA. As the newest member of the IMC faculty, he teaches courses in photography, graphic arts, advertising, broadcast news and public speaking.

Prior to returning to his alma mater as a faculty member, Caleb worked in communications and public relations in the Tuscaloosa area for two years. As the communications and marketing coordinator for The University of Alabama Women and Gender Resource Center, he was responsible for a number of promotional activities including graphic design, social media, press releases, event planning and more. He was also directly involved in a complete re-brand of the Center, which resulted in increased engagement from the UA campus and community.

Caleb has also worked as a public relations assistant for the City of Tuscaloosa. Reporting to the City’s communications director, he was responsible for creating graphics for municipal events and programs, including the Tuscaloosa Mayor’s Cup, Holidays on the River and the fifth anniversary of the April 27, 2011 tornado. Additionally, he assisted in maintaining the City’s website, writing news releases and developing a number of PR campaigns.
